Felix Gonzalez-Torres. Sweet Revenge

This video is a recording of the Inaugural Conversation held on 26 May 2026 between curators Nancy Spector and Alejandro Cesarco and Museo Reina Sofía director Manuel Segade, in conjunction with the Felix Gonzalez-Torres. Sweet Revenge exhibition.

The conversation encompasses different aspects related to the show, among them the root of the curators’ interest in the artist’s work, the gestation process of the title, the strategies and decisions taken to develop the exhibition and its contextualisation inside the Museo Reina Sofía’s framework in Madrid. They also reflect on the performative nature of the works, visitors’ active involvement and responsibility and the acquisition of the piece Untitled (For Parkett) by the Museo Reina Sofía Foundation: a billboard which is part of a limited edition numbering eight-four, whereby each one can only be installed once. The presentation of this billboard in the show is, therefore, its first and last location.
