Individuals, companies and institutions committed to the Museo Reina Sofía

Help build the Museo Reina Sofía Collection by donating or loaning artworks. Your contribution is key to the growth of our collections and to ensuring that future generations can enjoy and learn about major works of modern and contemporary art. In collaborating with the Museo, you are enriching cultural heritage and participating in the development of artistic knowledge, both nationally and internationally.
The two main forms of collaboration are the following:
- Donating works
This entails a living donor’s free transfer of artworks to the Museo. Donations are incorporated into the Museo’s collections and are handled accordingly i.e. conserved and exhibited. Each donation contributes to completing key areas of the collections and results in public recognition for donors.
- (Long-term) loans
Owners temporarily loan their works to the Museo for a minimum period of five years, during which the pieces are exhibited and safeguarded under the strictest conservation standards. Once this time period has concluded, the works are returned to their owners. This option enables collections to be disseminated without relinquishing ownership, granting the public the chance to appreciate works which would otherwise be out of reach.
Become part of the Museo Reina Sofía’s Mission by sponsoring a project. We design tailor-made collaborations for companies and institutions with an interest in supporting key areas such as:
- Conserving and restoring collections
- Organising temporary exhibitions
- Developing cultural activities and education programmes
By sponsoring a project, you are contributing to offering an enriching cultural experience and to promoting knowledge of contemporary art.
Friends of the Reina is more than a subscription. It is an invitation to become an active part of the life of the Museo Reina Sofía — support contemporary artistic creation, contribute to cultural debate and face the challenges art poses today. As a Friend of the Museo, you will also have preferential and free access to collections and temporary exhibitions, and with the freedom to explore and create your own exhibition routes.
