Felix Gonzalez-Torres

Sweet Revenge is the first large-scale presentation in Madrid dedicated to the Cuban-born American artist Felix Gonzalez-Torres (1957–1996), whose practice was conceived in a particular moment in time and space—namely the United States of the mid-1980s to the mid-1990s. Using the paradox of “sweet revenge” as a lens through which to understand the powerful use of contradiction that runs across his work, the exhibition evokes and interprets that political, societal, and emotional landscape in relation to the present.
