Liberatory Archival Practices and Sex-Dissident Communities

This video is a recording of the second session of Mediations of the Archive: Art, Community and Political Action, the first research seminar from the Cáder Institute forCentral American Art (ICAC). The session took place on Thursday, 23 April 2026 and featured the participation of Fernanda Carvajal, Dany Barrientos-Ramírez and Marcos Tolentino, with moderation by Sofía Villena Araya.

The session focused on archive practices linked to sex-dissident subjectivities and their radical critique of the ways bodies are governed, the norms imposed upon them and the logics of discipline and necro-politics that seek to shut down other horizons of life. More specifically, it reflected on the archive as a living practice which opens liberatory processes: bodies that are affirmed, memories that are collectively woven and futures imagined from wounds, desires and community strength.
