Date and time

Held on 26 may 2018

In Loie Fuller: Research, choreographer Ola Maciejewska critically appropriates the “dancer’s dress” invented by Loie Fuller (Illinois, 1862–Paris, 1928), one of the most innovative and widely recognised dance artists in modernism.

Loie Fuller: Research plays with the organisation of constantly transforming states and forms through a series of exercises which unfold before the audience, relating sculpture (the dress) with the person who sculpts it. Rather than seeking to strengthen the physical relationship with things, it looks to facilitate forms which make this relationship visible; a corporal practice to stimulate the movement of subject matter received by the form, a movement that emerges from the relationship between the human body and the object: the “dancer’s dress”.

The performance at 6pm will be followed by a conversation with the artist in the Sabatini Auditorium, thus bringing the audience in attendance closer to the research conducted by Maciejewska.
