Museo Reina Sofía Foundation announces a selection process for one predoctoral candidate with whom it will jointly submit an application to the 2026 Call for Grants for the Training of Doctoral Researchers in Companies and Other Organisations (Industrial Doctorates)[VD1] , funded by the Spanish State Research Agency [Agencia Estatal de Investigación].

The Foundation, in collaboration with the Museo Reina Sofía’s Studies Directorship, will apply for these grants with an industrial research project provisionally entitled "Defining Processes and Developing Protocols for the Acquisition, Stewardship and Care of Contemporary Indigenous Artistic and Cultural Productions at Museo Reina Sofía."

The project aims to develop a methodological framework and a set of institutional protocols to guide the processes of acquisition, donation and long-term deposit of contemporary artistic and cultural productions by Indigenous peoples, as well as the documentation, stewardship, conservation, display, interpretation and mediation practices accompanying their incorporation into the Collections of Museo Reina Sofía and Museo Reina Sofía Foundation. Beyond establishing technical procedures, the research aims to contribute to a critical reassessment of the institutional frameworks through which public museums engage with these productions and with the communities and practitioners involved in their creation, circulation and care.

Should the grant be awarded, the successful candidate will be employed by Museo Reina Sofía Foundation to undertake a doctoral research project within the framework of this industrial research project. The appointment will be for a maximum period of four years and will be governed by the terms and conditions established in the 2026 Call for Grants for the Training of Doctoral Researchers in Companies and Other Organisations (Industrial Doctorates). The appointment is conditional upon the award of the corresponding employment grant, funded at a rate of 100%.
