Collection. Contemporary Art: 1975–Present

A Lecture by Manuel Segade

This video is a recording of Manuel Segade’s lecture on 13 May 2026, in which the Museo Reina Sofía director puts forward a journey through the rehang of the Collections on Floor 4 of the Sabatini Building. After highlighting the progress of this rearrangement, resulting from an organic process and working methods, the lecture renders a panoramic view of the three exhibition routes structuring Collection. Contemporary Art: 1975–Present: A History of Affect in Contemporary Art, The Powers of Fiction: Sculpture, New Materialisms and Relational Aesthetics and The Institution, the Market and the Art that Transends Both. On a final note, Manuel contextualises this undertaking with an analysis of the Museo Reina Sofía’s origins.
