Alberto Greco

Viva el arte vivo

An informalist painter and organizer of “roving exhibitions” and fairground raffles; a poet and writer; an occasional actor and flâneur; the founder of arte vivo (living art) and organizer of self-promotion actions, Alberto Greco turned the public exhibition of his own life into a space of aesthetic creation whose boundaries fluctuated between histrionic posturing, media events, and street rumors. Viva el arte vivo is an exhibition that renders an account, retrospectively, of the short yet intense journey of Greco’s life and art. His actions were bound inseparably to the migrant route he embarked upon in 1950 from Buenos Aires.
