This work was made the year of Franco’s death and surfaced as a critique of Spain’s political regime at the time, representing a group of people being pursued as they run during an Anti-Franco march. The detail with which Juan Genovés portrays the scene, together with the use of black and white, refers to an image of documentary journalism, bringing us close-up to the fear that reigned in this period and permeated the events the artist attended.
