The Red Conceptualismos del Sur is an international platform for collective work, thought and collective position taking. It was founded in 2007 by an international group of researchers concerned about the need to intervene politically in the processes of neutralizing the critical potential of a set of conceptual practices developed in Latin America since the 1960s.
The association between the Red Conceptualismos del Sur and the Museo Reina Sofía seeks to confront the dominant circuits of cultural production, from the South to the North, and replace them with horizontal itineraries that include South-South trajectories between archives, museums, researchers, artists and institutions. Through this collaboration, the aim is to transform traditional museum policies by integrating, for example, practices and approaches such as network decision-making, the potential of the archive in relation to the Collection or the claim of a shared legitimacy in cultural productions and historical narratives.
Since 2009 the Museo Reina Sofía and the Red Conceptualismos del Sur jointly develop various projects such as research, publications, digitization and consolidation of archives, exhibitions, screening programmes and seminars.
