Kate Newby (Auckland, New Zealand, 1979) is an artist based in Brooklyn (New York, United States). Recent solo exhibitions include: Wild was the night (Institut d’Art Contemporain, Villeurbanne, France 2019), A puzzling light and moving (lumber room, Portland, United States, 2019), I can’t nail the days down (Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna, Austria, 2018), Let me be the wind that pulls your hair (Artpace, San Antonio, United States, 2017), I feel like a truck on a wet highway (Lulu, Mexico City, Mexico, 2014), and Maybe I won‘t go to sleep at all (La Loge, Brussels, Belgium, 2013).

Her works have been shown in international group exhibitions, including the Palais de Tokyo and the Galerie Art: Concept (Paris, France, 2019), the 21st Biennale of Sydney (Sydney, Australia, 2018), the Nicelle Beauchene Gallery (New York, United States, 2018), the Index – The Swedish Contemporary Art Foundation (Stockholm, Sweden, 2017), the SculptureCenter (New York, United States, 2017), the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki (Auckland, New Zealand, 2015), and the Arnolfini (Bristol, United Kingdom, 2014).
