By way of three of the equestrian portraits Velázquez painted, currently on display in the Museo del Prado, Jon Mikel Euba translates the figuration of the traditional equestrian portrait – an icon and emblem of power – into elemental geometric forms. A method, synthesising the corporal forms of personages and equids, with which the artist prompts us to critically reflect upon the way in which power has been represented in history. The titles refer to the total number of legs supporting the horses in each print.
