Study Centre

The Museo Reina Sofía Study Centre represents a major change in the relationship between the museum and its historical field of work. While 20th century museums are based on the study, interpretation and analysis of art objects, the Study Centre puts forward the notion of a museum built upon reflection and debate by the subjects of art. Subject who are no longer passive viewers or mere users of a public service, but are rather active agents in an educational process that involves a critical and transversal analysis of contemporary reality.

Created in 2009, the Study Centre integrates research activity into the museum space, seeking collaboration with the university and inserting the dynamics of reflection and debate into the various areas of the Museum, from Collection and Expositions to Public Programs. It is comprised of:
