Exhibition. Time and Things. The Home Studio of Hanne Darboven
Exhibition view. Time and Things. The Home Studio of Hanne Darboven, 2014
This exhibition assembles a broad range of artworks and a highly diverse mélange of objects that make up the home studio of Hanne Darboven (Munich, 1941 - Hamburg, 2009). This is the first time the artist's working environment is on view in a museum, which is particularly intriguing given the extraordinary contrast between the varied and multiform nature of her collection, and the Cartesian sobriety of her plastic expression (usually associated with conceptual and minimal art). Therefore, without endeavouring to recreate her studio as a whole, there is the desire to delve deeper into the internal logic that joins every element, rather than an assumption made on the randomness of its construction.
Furthermore, the aim is to offer a broader vision of her work, placing emphasis on the two main formulas developed by the artist throughout her career, the series and sequence, including a representative ensemble of her numerical writing works, musical compositions and calendars. In both spheres of action - the gathering of objects and the insistence on the grid and square structures - Darboven puts forward a retention and reconstruction of time, both in terms of collective memory and personal history.

Live Arts. Encounter with Simone Forti and performance

The Museo Reina Sofía and La Casa Encendida welcome the choreographer and dancer Simone Forti with two activities: a workshop and encounter with the artist. The workshop Body Mind World, held in the La Casa Encendida, works with processes such as improvisation with movement and its combination with words.
The encounter in the Museo Reina Sofía is divided into two parts. The first is a conversation between Simone Forti and Tania Arias (the coordinator of the artist's performances that formed part of the exhibition ±1961: Founding the Expanded Arts) that explores the different facets of Forti's body of work: her beginnings in the 1950s with Anna Halprin, Cunningham, and musicologist Robert Dundd, her first minimalist dance/constructions, and the incorporation, at the beginning of the 1980s, of improvisation and word in her choreography pieces.
In the second part of the encounter, participants from the workshop and Simone Forti herself present the results of some of the works in the Nouvel Auditorium Hall.

Touring Exhibitions. Cildo Meireles in HangarBicocca, Milan
View of the Cildo Meireles exhibition in the Palacio de Velázquez in 2013
On the 27th of this month the HangarBicocca in Milan presents a selection of 12 large installations by Cildo Meireles (Rio de Janeiro, 1948) as part of the exhibition that was on display at the Museo Reina Sofía between May and September of last year.
Organised by both institutions, together with the Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Serralves, Porto, the exhibition comprised works and installations by the artist, some presented for the first time and some lesser known. Since the end of the 1960s, Meireles has been developing new possibilities of redefining conceptual art by means of the relationship between the sensorial experience of the viewer, the critical use of ideological and financial systems of circulation, as well an ethical connection to the world – the basis of his permanent critical interpretation.

Touring Film and Video Series. The Friction of Bodies and Imminent Mexico.
Carlos Reygadas. Post Tenebras Lux. Film, 2012
The touring film and video season on the 1980s in Latin America, The Friction of Bodies, continues. After being shown in Asunción (Paraguay), Lima (Peru) and Mexico City (Mexico), on this occasion the series is being screened at the Centro Cultural Parque de España, in Rosario (Argentina). The series presents a panoramic view of heterogeneous artistic and political manifestations from the 1980s, emerging, coexisting and persisting simultaneously during the years of repression in Latin America.
Moreover, in the Centro de Cultura Digital, in Mexico City, the touring series Imminent Mexico. Imaginaries of Insurgency in Contemporary Film, presented in the Museo Reina Sofía in the summer of 2013, gets under way. The programme, due to travel shortly afterwards to CPH:DOX, in Copenhagen, puts forward the idea of film under strain, located between alarm and desolation, as the key to approaching a new generation of film-makers, headed by Carlos Reygadas and Nicolás Pereda, that have projected this cinematography internationally.
