Javier Montero. La creatividad como espacio de conflicto [Creativity as a Space of Conflict...] (detail), 2015

Inside the framework of the 2015-2016 Research Residencies, the playwright, stage director, writer and visual artist Javier Montero puts forward a project of critical research and collective production regarding the different forms of creativity, and the role they play in producing new subjectivities. Creativity as a Space of Conflict proceeds from the idea that intersubjective relationships are not solely an end in themselves, but instead enable the exploration of such complex terrains as the systems of cultural representation, the nature of pedagogical processes, institutions, thought as action and the potentiality of micropolitics.

This research, experimentation, creation and production laboratory undertakes a reflection on the different processes of precariousness inscribed in cognitive capitalism, and the fractures and lines of escape that may be traced from artistic production, pedagogy and political activism. It is structured into 10 weekly work sessions which will collectively plot a critical cartography of creativity, analysing spaces from the social field where this might also operate as a generative agent. Furthermore, these sessions endeavour to question the role played by cultural mediation and, accordingly, they will delve deeper into new forms and formats of union as a formula of cooperation between cultural producers by way of the tools of thought as action with which to devise experimental research/production.

The aim will be to construct research/production inside an open work dynamic, challenging at once traditional research methods and the dissemination of knowledge, and forms of articulating and sharing artistic production.
