War Drawings. The Association of Revolutionary Artists

Posters and drawings were the most commonly used artistic media during the Spanish Civil War, particularly because they were very effective in putting the message across, and cost very little, as they were reproduced in newspapers and magazines. Artists close to the Republican government used drawing as a propaganda tool to mobilise the population and as a way of moving culture forward through Marxist ideas and the influence of the USSR.
