The New Culture in Spain. Between the Popular and the Modern


In the mid 1920s, there was a noticeable feeling of artistic renewal in Spain, as a response to the intensification of the communication flow with the international avant-garde, helped by the presence of Spanish artists in Paris. The new surrealist sensibility, along with the revival of interest in popular indigenous culture, was shared by art and literature within what came to be known as the Generation of ’27.
